Bethany Lutheran Church to Host a Concert to Benefit PADS

Featuring award-winning North Carolina folk group Molasses Creek

February 7, 2014: Bethany Lutheran Church will host a concert to benefit PADS on Sunday, February 16 at 4 p.m. Calling the event “Have a Heart for the Homeless”, the church has designated proceeds from the concert’s freewill offering to directly benefit the Sunday night PADS site. PADS (Providing Advocacy, Dignity, and Shelter) has been a regular ministry at Bethany for more than 25 years. Bethany Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), is located at 76 W. Crystal Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake.

The featured performers are Molasses Creek, a contemporary folk group from Ocracoke Island, located off the coast of North Carolina.

Molasses Creek's high-energy performances and phenomenal songwriting bring the love of their coastal home to the stage. The band's elegant harmonies and arrangements, blazing instrumentals, and quirky sense of humor have won loyal followers throughout the United States and around the world.

Award winners from Garrison Keillor's “Prairie Home Companion,” Molasses Creek has recorded 13 albums over the past 20 years.   In 2012, Molasses Creek's release, "An Island Out of Time" reached the #4 spot on the National Folk Radio DJ Charts. “Sing Out” Magazine wrote, “The band's combination of harmony, humor, and love for the island they call home gives their work a distinct sound and vision.”  www.molassescreek.com
